A Nicer Day in the North Pacific

The long trip to Dutch Harbour continues as we head towards the Aleutian Island chain, which we should reach some time tomorrow.  The wind is now only around 10 knots, the seas have settled down to a few metres but it is still only 2 C. At least the rain and snow has passed for now. We have crept another few degrees North in Latitude and are heading towards the International Date Line.

Our Captain is doing a great job keeping us just out of the path of a nasty looking low pressure system that is in our area. He appears to be heading a little further North to avoid it.

There is a presentation on the Ring of Fire this morning, which is very relevant to the area were are in, and in the afternoon there is a continuation of a series of lectures on the current Space Race by entrepreneurs. The lecturer worked on one of the programs sponsored by Bezos and gave some great insights into what they are doing and why.

We were brave enough to head outdoors to do our 6 km walk around the promenade deck, dressed accordingly. The deck was wet, so we had to be careful no to slip, but at least it was nice to be out in the fresh air.

Activities continued with a visit to the Explorers Dome ( Imax Theatre) at 5.30pm to see a great movie titled "Under the Arctic Sky", which was a documentary about the Sami people who live in the Arctic Circle.

Dinner at the main restaurant was followed by a show which was a Tribute to ABBA and by then it was time for bed after a reasonably busy day.
